Island Watch is designed to be useful without an account. This page explains what stays on your iPhone, how Apple handles the optional Plus purchase, and how to ask questions.
The iPhone app does not ask you to create one.
Optional foreground location is reduced to a region on your device.
The current iPhone release does not register for remote notification delivery.
Your selected regions, saved watches, travel targets, followed updates, and cached status data stay on your iPhone. The current release does not send these preferences to Island Watch.
If you use the optional foreground location action, the app converts your location to a supported region on the device. It does not send precise coordinates or location history to Island Watch.
Island Watch Plus is a one-time Apple in-app purchase. Apple processes purchases and restorations through StoreKit and the Apple Account used for the purchase; Island Watch does not ask you to create an app account. For a new purchase, the app attempts to create a random app-installation identifier, protects it in the iOS Keychain, and supplies it to StoreKit as an app-specific purchase token. It is not a hardware device ID, profile, or user account. The app can retain local entitlement or revocation state so it can accurately show whether Plus is active. It does not persist the raw Apple-signed purchase proof.
If you submit a website issue report, it can store the affected update identifier, issue type, your comment, any contact detail you choose to provide, and your browser user agent. Do not include sensitive information in an issue report.
Island Watch uses this information to provide the app, keep preferences available on your device, restore Plus access through StoreKit, and investigate product or source reports.
The iPhone app does not include an advertising identifier or an analytics SDK. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Island Watch uses Vercel to host the website and Vercel Analytics for broad website usage measurement. It uses Supabase for the public application database and Edge Functions. Apple provides StoreKit for in-app purchase processing and handles that processing under its own privacy practices. The current iPhone release does not use Apple Push Notification service for remote delivery.
When you open an official-source link, that provider receives your visit under its own privacy practices. Review the provider's page before relying on a source update.
Most app preferences and cached status data remain on your iPhone until you remove them, reset the app, or uninstall it. Island Watch also keeps a protected app-installation identity in the iOS Keychain. That identity can survive an app reinstall; StoreKit can separately restore an eligible Plus purchase through Apple. The protected identity does not include an Apple Account or raw Apple-signed purchase proof.
The current release does not create a remote notification registration. For questions about a protected local record, email support@jeromymobley.com; uninstalling alone is not a reliable removal path for Keychain records.
Website issue reports do not currently have an automatic expiry. We keep them as operational records until an explicit retention schedule is introduced. You can ask about a report or removal request at support@jeromymobley.com; some limited security records may need to remain to protect the service.
